Kara, began as Pastor of First Christian Church in January of 2007. She was ordained into Christian Ministry in May of 2004. Before coming to First Christian, Kara served as Minister in Residence at Central Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky.
She is a graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. and attended the University of Louisville, Kent School of Social Work before deciding to enter ministry. She graduated from Vanderbilt University, (Masters of Divinity) in Nashville, TN.
Kara has lived most of her life in Kentucky & loves to root for her Big Blue, Kentucky Wildcats! She & her husband Mark love life in the mountains of east, TN!
Choir Director: Janice Mitchell
Janice Mitchell's church musical life has included Baptist, Presbyterian, Unitarian, Episcopal, Catholic, Christian, and Disciples of Christ traditions in Tennessee and Illinois. She served at FCC for three years prior to relocating in Illinois and has returned as choir director in 2010. She taught music and band at St. Mary's and Willow Brook in Oak Ridge, TN. For the last 35 years, Janice has been teaching private music lessons and is currently offering piano, voice, and brass instruments in Lenoir City, is the music teacher at Montessori Internationale in Knoxville, and plays French horn in the Maryville Symphony.
